Speaking to a news agency, Kathir said that he had done a Kannad film in 2016 and he also had been working on a couple of international films.
The reports say that his new movie will be produced by Ranganathan and his son Kishore is going to make his debut as an actor through this movie. With such an ace history, he is now going to direct a movie in Tamil after 19 years. Kathir is well known for introducing many talented actors including Abbas, Heera, Kunal, Rambha, and Sridevi Vijaykumar. It has become the first movie for AR Rahman to score music with a rural background. Ilayaraja had composed the music for this film and Kathir had then joined hands with AR Rahman in Uzhavan, which had become the second movie for both of them. Kathir has made his directorial debut in 1991 by directing the movie 'Idhayam' starred by late actor Murali and Heera Rajagopal. The shooting will be taking place in Chennai, Bangalore, and Mumbai. The untitled movie will hit the floors soon and the movie team is in the process of finalizing the cast and crew. It must be noted that Rahman was the music director for most of the films directed by Kathir and as the latter is going to direct yet another romantic movie, the Tamil cinema industry is thrilled to have the combo again as a treat. To make a comeback worth, Kathir has joined hands with his long time friend AR Rahman to compose music for his next movie. According to reports close to the developments, he is now directing a movie, starred by a debutant actor Kishore. After remaining away from the Tamil cinema industry, he is all set to make a comeback nearly after two decades. He stayed off from the Tamil cinema after 2002 and after fourteen years, he resumed his direction by helming the Kannad movie 'Nan Love Track' and it has got released in 2016 and he had then shown no major involvement in direction as his filmography had stopped till 2016. The movie has failed to garner the expected scale of the reception. His last Tamil movie was 'Kadhal Virus', which was released in 2002. Kathir was well known for directing movies like 'Kadhal Desam', 'Kadhalar Dhinam', 'Kadhal Virus', and 'Uzhavan'. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman is all set for a remarkable reunification for the first time in 19 years as he is going to join hands with a popular Tamil director Kathir, who presented some of the prominent movies for the 90s' kids.
